Get ready to turn trash into wearable art! Parish Proud is excited to launch its first-ever Trashion Show Contest, inviting high school students in grades 9-12 to showcase their creativity, innovation, and commitment to sustainability.
Students may enter individually or as a team of 3-5 members to create original fashion designs using recycled, repurposed, and discarded materials. Selected designs will take center stage during a live runway show on March 13, 2027, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Moncus Park Pavilion.
Only 20 entries will be accepted, and participants will compete for cash-equivalent gift card prizes, including:
Applications open November 9, 2026, and close December 4, 2026. Participants must attend at least one required design workshop prior to the show.
The Trashion Show Contest is presented by Parish Proud and Keep Louisiana Beautiful in partnership with Krewe de Canailles, Designing Women of Acadiana, JSQ Creative Agency, and SLCC Speech & Theatre. Together, we’re challenging local students to think creatively about waste reduction while transforming everyday trash into extraordinary fashion.

Celebrate Arbor Day with TreesAcadiana and Parish Proud!
Join us for the 2027 Arbor Day Celebration, hosted by TreesAcadiana and Parish Proud, a day dedicated to planting, learning, and building a greener Lafayette together.
Join us at Thomas Park in Lafayette as we come together to plant more than 40 trees throughout the park. These new trees will help expand the tree canopy, provide shade, enhance the park's natural beauty, and create lasting benefits for the community.
